Cross Country skiing is now a media focus after the successes of Beckie Scott, Sara Renner and Chandra Crawford at the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics.

The 2008 Alberta World Cup will be North America's only World Cup race. There will be four cross country ski races (female and male in pursuit, sprint classic, free technique and sprint free) held at the newly refined Canmore Nordic Centre in Canmore, Alberta January 22 through 26.

2008 will be the second World Cup hosted by the team that successfully staged the 2005 Alberta Centennial World Cup in Canmore in partnership with CODA, FIS and the Calgary Stampede.
