Summary Report during September 2005

• Illegal Settler Activities: Israeli settlers have continued to attack Palestinian civilians and property in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. Israeli settlers in breach of international humanitarian law continue to reside in the Palestinian Territories and have launched a series of attacks against Palestinian civilians and property. During the reported period, Israeli Forces razed more areas of Palestinian land for settlement expansion. They also razed areas of Palestinian land near two military checkpoints in the northern West Bank in order to extend the checkpoints.

• The Former PA Security Chief Moussa Arafat was assassinated by Palestinian gunmen. PHRMG strongly condemns the assassination and reiterates its call for immediate action by the PA to confront the misuse of weapons in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, which threatens the safety and security of Palestinian civilians.

• Israeli military forces left the Gaza Strip after 38 years. However, entry to and exit from the strip remains under Israeli control for at least another six months.
