Wild Israeli Military Violence Terrorizes Palestinian People in Gaza

PHRMG expresses sincere shock and grief that 12 Palestinian people in Gaza have been killed by the Israeli military in the past 3 days.

  • On Sunday, March 2, Israeli forces invaded a refugee camp in Khan Yunis before dawn with dozens of tanks, armored vehicles, bulldozers, and helicopters, blowing up buildings and destroying part of a hospital and its main power generator.  Three people were murdered by Israeli soldiers this day, including a 35 year old man, a 50 year old man who was shot and killed while inside his apartment, and a 9 year old boy who was shot to death at the funeral parade of the two men who died earlier that day.  40 other Palestinian people were injured on this day.
  • On Monday, March 3, Israeli soldiers murdered more Palestinian people, when they invaded the al-Bureji refugee camp in Gaza, again with tanks and helicopters in the world’s most densely populated area.  8 people were killed, including two boys aged 13 and 16 who were killed by bullets to the stomach and chest and a pregnant mother of 9 children whose home collapsed on top of her when Israeli soldiers blew up her neighbor’s house.  This woman’s husband, whose neck was broken, and some of her children were among the 40 people who were injured (5 critically) in this Israeli attack.  This fighting continued for 6 hours while ambulances were prevented from aiding the wounded, thus some died from bleeding to death.  While they were attacking, Israeli soldiers raided homes and demolished personal belongings.  A missile hit the home of a 40 year old man, catching it on fire and burning the resident to the extreme that he was transferred to an Israeli hospital.  All this in one day in Gaza.
  • Yesterday, March 4, Israeli soldiers shot dead a 75 year old farmer who was riding his donkey nearby his home.  Because of a nearby settlement, the area he was riding through is considered restricted, and the soldiers shot to kill an elderly man.

Such violence against innocent people cannot be tolerated.  The meaningless and ignored slap on the wrist by the US has done nothing to deter the unabashed Israeli military who proves once again that it is above all law and standard, even its own.  Israeli forces terrorize Palestinian civilians as they claim they are working toward security, but as the rest of the world knows, you can not get peace through terror.  Because it is done by a military, does not change the simple fact that these acts are morally void and crimes against humanity.

PHRMG urges you to contact your local government representatives and speak out against the brutal Israeli attacks against innocent civilians.  When elected leaders realize that those they represent can no longer tolerate what is happening in the Occupied Territories, perhaps they will be moved to speak out in affirmative ways to stop these grave atrocities.
