CRIES FOR HELP FROM THE PRISONS (2)

Yet another letter decrying the conditions and abuses inside PA jails, and especially in Tel-Al-Hawa prison in Gaza.

The PHRMG receives many letters from prisoners in the jails and prisons of the Palestinian Authority complaining about the difficult conditions there. One of these letters is from a number of prisoners from different jails who wrote a letter in common appealing for better treatment.

In the letter, the prisoners complain the some prisoners are being held in extremely small cells - 150 x 250 centimeters, without being let out for any reason in more than a year. In such conditions, diseases develop, which could be prevented. This prisoners are treated with a great deal of unnecessary violence. We are asked: is this how Israel would treat the most hated of it's Jewish prisoners, the murderer of Yitzhak Rabin?

The prison in Tel-al-Hawa is singled out as one of the worst in Gaza, and the treatment of the Military Intelligence called "unbelievable" because of the violence they use against prisoners. They even prevent some prisoners from being visited by their family in over a year. This harms the unity of the Palestinian people and makes national conversation difficult.

The letter concludes: "We ask our people, human rights organizations, and all parties to improve the situation of political prisoners in the Authority's jails."
