Mark Sanger runs this one day wood turning course from his well
equipped workshop in Gillingham, Dorset a short distance from the
A303 London to Exeter road and five minutes from the London to
Exeter railway line.
Each course is designed to meet your needs enabling you to obtain
the required skills to take away and progress within the craft. So
if you want to start with turning a bowl as an introduction to the
craft, or you may have been turning for a while and would like to
tackle something else such as boxes, hollow forms or natural edge
thin wall vessels then the course can be tailored just for you.
Emphasis through-out centers on the correct safe use of tools,
equipment and techniques as well as wood selection form.
Mark demonstrates and teaches the craft of woodturning through out
the UK and abroad attending wood art collaborations and shows in
Australia, America, Spain, and Ireland. Mark has written many
published articles on woodturning as well as having his first book
'Turning Hollow Forms' published in 2014 by GMC Publications.

Have just had an amazing day being taught wood turning by Mark. As
a complete novice I have come home with a very pleasing and tactile
bowl and also got to gain some experience spindle turning as an
Mark was an excellent, knowledgable and friendly tutor, who
explained and demonstrated technics very well, allowing a lot of
hands-on work for myself.
He has also given me a great deal of advice on what equipment and
tools I would need to start up - hopefully soon when I have sorted
out somewhere to actually do it!
Many thanks Mark for a great day.

I have recently attended a texturing and design day with Mark
because for years I have admired his work, not just with his
fantastic turning, but also with his techniques for embellishing
his 'works of art' with different textures, colours and materials -
his finished items are always impressive. Like me, his inspiration
seems to come from nature with the occasional oriental slant!
Mark is an excellent tutor, always explaining in the simplest of
terms the correct processes to use and breaking them down into
simple stages to follow to achieve the highest quality of finish. I
learnt a lot in a day and feel that I can now take my turning to
another level. I already have a good knowledge of turning, but
would like to sometimes add 'a little something else' to the item,
and it is always good to have someone else handy to 'bounce' some
of my ideas off! Thanks Mark

Mark is not only a superb woodturner, as can be seen from the work
shown on his website, but he is also an intuitive teacher. I went
to him as complete novice and left able to turn a reasonable bowl
on my own. After a bit of practice I intend to return to Mark for a
little more advanced stuff.
Thank you Mark.5
